Kauai, offers a vibrant array of events during the fall season, showcasing its rich culture, local flavors, and community spirit. Known as “the Garden Island”, there are plenty of crops and fruits that are celebrated during this time of year through varying harvest festivals. Whether you're a resident or a visitor, there are plenty of activities to enjoy as the island transitions into autumn.

Kaua’i Mokihana Festival (September 22-28)

Held at various venues and locations across one week, the Mokihana Festival celebrates the Hawaiian culture through educational lectures, music, hula competitions, and craft fairs featuring locally made items. Beginner hula dancers can attend hula workshops to perfect their techniques.

Fall Harvest Festival (October 12)

Kauai’s family-friendly Fall Harvest Festival will take place on Saturday, October 12th this year at Kekaha Neighborhood Park. The free event features carnival games, rides, pumpkin giveaways, and local food vendors. Celebrate the arrival of Autumn in a uniquely Kauai way!

Rice Street Block Party (October 12)

Attend an event-filled block party in the heart of Kauai. Portions of Rice Street in Lihu’e are blocked off to street traffic for the day and replaced with event stages, food vendors, street artists, games, and other live entertainment. The fun extends into the night with celebrations underneath the stars.

Kaua'i Chocolate and Coffee Festival (October 20)

This festival is a must for chocolate and coffee lovers. It includes tastings, informative presentations, and workshops, allowing guests to indulge in the rich flavors that Kauai has to offer. Admission is free, but tasting passports are available for those who want to sample various offerings. The event supports local agriculture and community initiatives, making it a flavorful way to engage with Kauai's culinary scene.

Kaua'i Thanksgiving Feast (November 28th)

Hosted at the Lodge at Kukui'ula, join us for the grandest Thanksgiving meal you have ever experienced! Chef Ben and his talented culinary team utilize an array of ingredients pulled directly from the 10-acre Kukui'ula farm to serve up memorable dishes ranging from classic menu items to local favorites. Be sure to save room for the spread of delicious desserts. The Kaua'i Thanksgiving Feast event is hosted at 'Umeke Kitchen + Bar from 4:30pm to 8pm and reservations are required in advance as seating is limited. Turkey Trot & Turkey Shoot (November 28th)

Some of us are probably familiar with the tradition of a turkey trot, but have you heard of a turkey shoot? Held at the Ocean Course at Hokuala, a special par-three 9-hole course will be created on Thanksgiving Day to see who can score the lowest score. Start the day with a 5K run and cap off your morning by swinging the golf clubs!

Festival of Lights (November 28 – December 31)

Kauai's Festival of Lights transforms the Historic County Building Park into a winter wonderland adorned with dazzling light displays. This event is free and open to the public, making it a perfect outing for families looking to get into the holiday spirit. The lights are illuminated nightly from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., providing a magical atmosphere throughout the season.
