You can do as much or as little as you like here. Blissful hours by The Makai Pools, novel in hand–that’s an option. So is mastering a challenging new skill or sport with the help of one of the Huaka’i Guides. Exquisitely fresh farm-to-table island cuisine fuels you for any kind of adventure, including those of the contemplative, rejuvenating type you’ll find at Hi’ilani Spa + Fitness. The Shops at Kukui`ula are just down the road, a pleasant stroll or bike ride away. Anything is possible.
Gather for breakfast and strong morning espresso made with Kaua`i grown beans. Soft sofas and thick stacks of design books warrant lounging, while housemade snacks fuel pool, shuffleboard and vintage Atari matchups in the game room. Come evening, The Great Lawn’s giant fire pit beckons–to welcome sunset with a cocktail or a stick of fire-toasted marshmallows in hand.
Walk up the road, hike or bike the trail to The Farm, the 10-acre wonderland that supplies Kukui`ula with flowers and organic-grown fruits and vegetables. En route, you might spy a nēnē, the native goose that’s the state bird of Hawai`i. At the farm, pick fresh flowers, pluck tropical fruits and citrus or harvest seasonal herbs, greens and vegetables for your kitchen. Paddle out on the lake to fish for peacock bass (kayaks and gear available through Huaka`i Guides). The Farm hosts seasonal events and is available for private booking.

Designed to mimic ponds found around Kaua`i, saltwater pools flow together connected by cascading waterfalls. They meet at the sand-bottom pool that laps the shores of a manmade beach, an idyllic spot for sun bathing, cold tropical drink in hand.
Golf and Tennis
To play the private 18-hole Tom Weiskopf golf course, book a tee time (available to guests daily after 12:30pm) at the golf clubhouse, and access lessons, practice greens, golf boards and carts. Tennis on one of the hard-surface courts is arranged through Huaka`i Guides. Racquets and balls are available.
